First of all Empress was “characterized as dictatorial, vicious, reactionary and at fault for the fall of the Qing dynasty”. She was not remembered as anything good. She was also “a remarkable woman”. Also, the traits in the first quote aren't really great traits to be the leader of China, or even a good trait of any sort of leader at all. Also, “her victims included the emperor of Guangxu’s sons favorite concubine, thrown down a well, and Guangxu himself, by then deposed by her, dispatched with arsenic on the eve of her own death to ensure that he made no comeback”. She is a very ruthless leader who kills anyone that she wants without getting any punishment at all. She was so ruthless that she even killed herself just for precautions. Empress Dowager and Emperor Guangxu both die in 1908. She was thought of as, “one who murdered without a second thought of to protect her interests, who squandered the national treasury on her own pleasures and who set back reform in China to preserve herself”. She didn't even think about who she was going to kill and how it would make a difference in China, and how it would affect other people in China. But everything that the empress does is for her own benefit, if not an accident to help someone else. There is nothing that was in the text that was to help other people or help someone on purpose. There was a terrible ruler that helped a lot with the collapse. There was rebellions because the people did not support some of the stuff that the Qing did. Finally there was an opium war because of the british illegally smuggling mass amounts of opium. But these are just a few reasons of why the Qing dynasty fell. Just think, this is one of the best dynasty ever created and it took so many things to take it down temporarily. This was not walk in the park, but after all of these historical events, they all summed up with the collapse of the Qing. So, even though the Qing dynasty fell, it still lives on in our minds as one of the greatest dynasties
