1. How did the changes in society in the 1920’s cause conflict?
There were many exciting changes that took place in the 1920’s. A major change took place as the 18th Amendment went into effect; the start of the banning of the manufacture and sale of alcohol. This influenced the growth of organized crime in urban areas. They began to open illegal nightclubs, called speakeasies, which sold liquor. Criminal gangs in those urban areas battled for control over bootlegging operations. This started a conflict between urban and rural communities because they were breaking the law constantly in urban areas with bootlegging and organized crime. The Prohibition ended in 1933 with the 21st Amendment.

Did the 1929 Stock Market Crash cause the Great Depression?
The 1929 Stock Market Crash was not the cause of the Great Depression. But it was definitely one of the many contributing factors that led up to the start of the Great Depression. One of the most important features that caused it was the failure of the Federal Reserve. They failed to do their job of taking control and regulating the economy’s money supply. The Fed deciding not to step in and resolve the issue was part of the reason for the American’s mischance in the 1930’s.
Another major contributing factor to the Great Depression was that businesses were starting to go in a downward spiral. This also reflected towards the stock market activity and the value of shares. Businesses activity was decreasing so it forced their shares value to decrease along with it. This was the point in time when more people wanted to sell stocks than buy them, making the prices drop rapidly. As this negative activity increased, some banks began to close their doors. People started going to their banks to withdraw all of their money in case that bank went bankrupt; however, banks couldn’t keep up with the demand for withdrawals since they didn’t have enough reserves on hand to give people their money in
