The prophetic literature is the books of the bible that have the names of the prophets on them. They include the former prophets (Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings) and the later prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the Book of the Twelve) (McEntire & Tullock, 2012, pg. 209). The three major crises in Israel that the prophetic literature responds to are: 1.) The Assyrian Crisis that occurred from 740-710 B.C.E. The major point of this was the Assyrian destruction of the Northern Kingdom in 722. 2.) The Babylonian Crisis that occurred from 610-550 B.C.E.
