How Did Steinbeck Write Of Mice And Men

Have you ever read Of Mice and Men? The author who wrote Of Mice and Men is John Steinbeck. Before becoming famous for writing, Steinbeck worked as a manual laborer before [accomplishing] success to be a writer and did not finish college. “He worked closely, with migrants and itinerants, and that association deepened his empathy for workers, the disenfranchised, the lonely and dislocated, defining characteristics of his best work” (anb.org). John Steinbeck was a famous writer of his time who came from a home with little no money, and later became successful. John Steinbeck's “Of Mice and Men” was published in 1937. Of Mice and Men is about two men who are friends named George and Lennie which took place in Soledad, California. They had to leave a town called “Weed” and try to find work. Steinbeck made many of his stories between 1933 through 1934. John started writing because his English teacher encouraged him. “He decided at the age of fifteen that he wished to be a writer and spent hours as a teenager in a world of his own making, writing stories and poems in his upstairs bedroom” (anb.org). John died on December 20th in 1968 of heart disease. He married his wife Carol in the 1930’s, she was a “compelling figure” in Steinbeck’s life. She offered ways to restructure, typed his manuscripts, suggested titles, and urged him to cut the Latinate phrases (anb.org).
