Juliet does not listen to the nurse or her parents to marry Paris. The nurse was the one person that Juliet could trust with the secret of Romeo. She defies the wishes of her only friends and mentor. All throughout the play, Nurse took sides with Juliet. However, after hearing the argument with Juliet’s parents about marrying Paris, the nurse agrees with the Capulet family and comes to the decision that Juliet should marry Paris. Juliet responds, “Speakest thou from thy heart” (III.v.227)? Not only does the Nurse not support Juliet’s wishes of being with her true love, but also she find it hard to believe that the Nurse would want her to break both legal and moral laws in marrying Paris.
