Romeo and Juliet has left a vast legacy in film and art. The play has influenced many playwrights to write tragedies and comedies. Shakespeare developed the “greatest love story ever, written in Romeo and Juliet, which introduced films into being more tragic, dramatic and exaggerated” (Carreño et al.). After the production, many authors and playwrights used death as a strong symbol for true and tragic love. Many people were fascinated by “the almost happy endings, which are always ruined by fate” (Carreño et al.). The almost happy endings, were destroyed by an antagonist or destiny.
