A very pivotal coincidence as it would end up. The Capulet’s and Montague’s were sworn enemies from ancient times and now their off spring meeting at a party is a big coincidence. “Romeo is well aware of fate. I know this because he cries out to defy fate.” (School Work Helper, 2016-2018) Romeo defies the stars by saying “O, I am fortunes fool!” after he killed Tybalt. “By saying this he is trying to imply that fate is to blame for this not him” (School Work Helper, 2016-2018) Romeo did not want to have the fight with Tybalt in the first place. When Tybalt killed his friend he felt compelled to avenge him. This made Romeo fall perfectly into fates plan for him. Romeo realizes this when he cursed fate. When Romeo hears that Juliet has died the first thing that comes into his head is to defy the stars. By stars he meant fate. He then plans to kill himself by poisoning himself. This is his way of defying fate. Although they were doomed from the beginning by being labelled star crossed lovers. Friar Laurence’s letter was supposed to reach Romeo informing him of their plan but this did not happen. This was also fate. When Juliet woke up and asked Friar he simply said “A greater power than we can contradict hath thwarted our intents.” (Leverson & Wells, 2000) Juliet’s father pushing her to marry Paris was fate. Friar John also made the choice to deal with his own errands and taking the letter straight to Romeo “it is actually Friar John’s choice not to go directly to Mantua, as ordered by Friar Laurence” (School Work Helper, 2016-2018). Friar Laurence made a choice to leave Juliet by herself once he heard the watch coming. That is twice in the story that he has strayed from the ways of the cloth. If he had stayed with Juliet, she might have lived and not killed herself. “Thus his weakness caused him to choose to leave, with no help from fate, and the death of Juliet.” (School Work Helper, 2016-2018). If Mercuito had not tried to help Romeo by inviting him to the party all these events might not have happened. It was his choice to invite Romeo and his choice to accept the
