According to a report done by the Department of Defense in 2022, “Fourteen percent of all active duty service members in the United States- about 200,000- are women” (Hernandez). The presence of women in the military not only emphasizes their importance and efforts, but also contributes to how their rights and freedoms, specifically those related to abortion, are affected and judged. Women service members become vulnerable to the judgment of others and higher-ups, solely based on their reproductive decisions. An example of this would be the accusation that women purposely get pregnant as an escape route to avoid deployment overseas. Because of this judgment of reproductive rights, women have a significantly higher chance of having miscarriages and complications with pregnancies, while having little to no assistance with those
