American Dream Essay
Everyone had the ability to achieve their American dream. Not everyone believes this statement, since they have not yet completed their American dream. In 1931, James Truslow Adams first defined the “American Dream” by writing that “life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement” regardless of social status or birth circumstance. If you work hard, and do not give up, you will be able to achieve their American dream. John D. Rockefeller is a perfect example of this. Rockefeller was the first superstar of the US business. Born in Mississippi in 1954, media mogul and talk show Oprah Winfrey grew up in poverty and was a victim of sexual abuse in childhood. After moving to Tennessee to live with her father, she got a job in radio while they are in school. Eventually made its way to co-anchoring the local news, and finally launched his own production company. In 1986, The Oprah Winfrey Show debuted and revolutionized the tabloid talk show genre, shooting Winfrey to billionaire status. Since then, he has contributed to many charities, began a very influential book club, books written on weight loss, and launched its own magazine, O in 2000. Not everyone reaches their American dream because they think there are too many obstacles in their way, and they are giving up. It’s no longer just about what you know, but what you do with what you know. In the new American economy, it’s about trust, opening up your heart, and being kind to others. The society gives everyone the opportunity for everyone to achieve the American dream. Every living American has the potential to fulfil the American Dream. There are many people who realize their American dream. There are still beliefs, and hopes that people will succeed in their American dreams. We all have this capability.
