Based on my research, The Deep is a very special piece to Jackson Pollock. Just by looking at this painting, you can imagine how deep he was into his art. We could take the white shading as the surface and the dark part being the deep chasm where a man’s deep secrets hide. The secrets, which doesn’t appear frequently even to the individual himself. Overtime, the deep becomes secretive with darkness for reason that it stayed untouched for a very long time.…
Joan Mitchell’s Chamonix 1962 painting appears to be a mess at first glance; paint violently pushed across canvas, no focal point and seemingly just no point to this piece. However, by giving a name to this abstract mess, we are able to begin to use our imagination to begin to see shapes take form to see that Mitchell has made an abstraction of a French mountain and it is our job as a viewer to use our minds to make a story of her canvas. Mitchell’s 200 by 217.2cm canvas overtakes your vision the second you step in front of it. As you stare at all the paint splattered in the middle of the painting, you begin to notice that it’s not just a mess of paint. Mitchell didn’t do a ‘Jackson Pollock’ and slap paint on the canvas.…
Jesse “Wow I did not know that.” Anna “The style of her paintings did change and seem similar to Jackson Pollock’s style after they met. Her earlier work was more analytical and formal, reflective of her artistic training and influences of cubism. This painting, called Charred Landscape, especially shows the loose and intuitive style she adopted from Pollock.” “It’s characterized by its large mural-like size, bold and expressive brushstrokes, dynamic movement, and monochrome color.”…
Memorial to James, First Earl Stanhope as Seen by a Novice Art is said to be in the eye of the beholder. That sentence forces the notion that anything can be considered art depending on the viewer’s belief as to what is artistic. Looking through most history books easily proves that with all the different forms art has taken throughout time.…
I believe that each artist puts their own unique twists and styles in their work, which makes every piece special in its own way. I personally believe that if every piece of art work looked the same, it would get boring to look at. I do agree that art is a concept, process,…

Vincent van Gogh was an amazing post-impressionist painter who was poor and went practically unrecognized his whole life. Then, in his late teens and throughout his 20s he was constantly moving from place to place trying to decide who he was in life.…
