The Romanticism Period started in 1800 and ended around 1850. The elements were often individuality and personal freedom, nature, life, simplicity personification, and the poet's feelings. Edgar Allan Poe (poet), Richard Wagner (composer), and John Constable (Artist) were all famous artists during this time that used romantic characteristics in their work.

Poe's tales of horror lead to many of his works, including “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” which became literary classics. "The Raven," which he published in 1845, is considered among the best-known poems in American literature.
