What’s Left In The Box
Zeus, the most powerful of all gods, created a woman from clay called Pandora and later gave Pandora the gift of a box with the condition that she must never open the box. Yet, when Pandora could no longer stand it, she took the key, and opened the box. Out poured disease, poverty, misery, death, and sadness - all shaped like tiny moths, which stung Pandora repeatedly and she slammed the lid shut, leaving hope in the box, which later fluttered from the box like a dragonfly, healing the wounds created by the moths. In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, many characters’ lives changed for the better when they found hope, because hope can bring positive events to one’s life. We should have a source of hope.
