Oprah Winfrey was the first African-American woman to be a billionaire later in life. She grew up with her grandmother and after High School where she went on many TV news in several cities, she moved to chicago. In 1986, Winfrey went on Phil Donahue’s talk show where things started to start. She "just blew the whole thing open. The only thing she was interested in was what made you feel, what made you cry, what you were scared of, what you were proud of. She also supports gay marriage which was a big thing that most of our society didn’t agree with. On her show she featured many married couples that had either big problems or small problems. This showed some people with similar problems, how to solve it on their own or even make the problem vanish. She helped people think about themselves differently than what they usually think about themselves, sometimes on the show she had people get makeovers. She is just like a big role model for us, many people are following her in her footsteps.
