How Did Oedipus Want To Die

Multiple people came to testify to Oedipus, and everything stated lined up with his fate, proving fate does occur. The first of these men to testify was Tiresias, who stated that Oedipus killed Laius, who ended up being Oedipus’ father. Oedipus did not believe him and kicked him out of Thebes. Sometimes when people face their destiny anger and violence occurs. This claim also is backed up by Jocasta, who said that Laius was killed “at the place the three roads meet” (Sophocles 790), which is where Oedipus was walking. Oedipus killed another person which matched the exact description of his father. This occurred approximately the same time his father had been murdered. Oedipus has committed retribution worthy malfeasance against individuals. Oedipus, being the king of the city of Thebes, ordered Tiresias, a blind prophet, to go to Apollo, and gain knowledge of how to lift the city of “the disease from which it is suffering,” (page 18).
