Oedipus was a character that developed to a completely different person by the end of the play. He changed from admired to loathed, ignorant to wise, arrogant to grateful. Yet he still kept some traits from beginning to end. He was always responsible and courageous. He promised he would show the people of Thebes the true face of the person who killed their former king, Lauis. He could have ran away and lived peacefully where no one knew of what he had done.
