The Wii introduced innovative new ways to play video games with the Wii remote. Nintendo released the Wii in 2006 (El-Nasir). The wand-like remote is motion sensitive, creating a unique gaming experience (El-Nasir). Players can control games by moving the remote around rather than just pushing buttons (El-Nasir). Remotes from past systems required pushing buttons and moving joysticks, but the Wii allowed for players to be much more physically engaged in their games. Not only does the remote allow for a more realistic experience, but also keeps users active and moving around. The “Switch” combines a home console and a handheld into one. Nintendo released the Switch in 2017 (Squire). The Switch can play games on a television screen as a home console, and then a portable screen can be removed from the dock to be played on the go (Squire). Players can play a game on the television, and simply lift the touch-screen handheld out of the charging dock to take their game to go without any interruptions. Both joy-con remotes have HD rumble built in to provide subtle, yet realistic vibrations coordinated with the game (“Nintendo Switch”). The HD rumble adds even more realism to the Switch’s cutting edge technology. The HD rumble creates a gaming experience that has not yet been created in the past, because of the realism that cannot be created with just sights and sounds (“Nintendo Switch”). The joy-con controllers use new and improved technology that blows past models out of the water. The Switch also offers many ways to stay connected. The Switch allows for up to eight players (within reasonable distance from one another) to play a game together without WiFi (“Nintendo Switch”). The system also supports online multiplayer games through WiFi (“Nintendo Switch”). Nintendo president, Tatsumi Kimishima, believes that the Nintendo Switch will introduce the world to new experiences made possible because of the unique characteristics, such as its modern hardware and joy-con controllers (“Nintendo
