How Did Napoleon Bonaparte Impact The World

Napoleon Bonaparte, a Corsica born Frenchman who worked his way through French ranks until he became the emperor of France, and through his life he would have a major impact on the world. Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769 to his father Carlo Buonaparte and mother Letizia Romalino Buonaparte. As is quite obvious the spelling of Napoleon’s parents’ last names does not match the spelling of Napoleons, this is because when France acquired Corsica he adopted a more French spelling of his last name which created the difference. Napoleon’s early life had him leaving his island home of Corsica to attend school on mainland France where he learned the French language, and eventually went on to graduate from a French military academy. After graduating from the military academy Napoleon became a second lietenant in an artillery regiment of the French army. In 1789 the French Revolution began, and within three short years the revolutionaries had succeeded in overthrowing the French monarchy, during this time Napoleon was mostly on leave on his home island Corsica where he became affiliated with a group known as the Jacobins, a political group that supported democracy. The Reign of Terror was a period of violence that was exacted upon enemies of the French revolution. During this time, Napoleon was promoted to brigadier general in the army, but when Robespierre fell from his seat of power in 1797 Napoleon was briefly placed under house arrest for his ties to them. Just one year after being placed in house arrest Napoleon helped suppress a royalist opposition to the revolutionary government, and was shortly thereafter promoted to major
