In 2009 on a hot summer night, my life changed. I was 12 years old when my older brother and my father got into a fight and my brother’s left the house. I didn’t know that my brothers actions can affect me or my future so much. It had a big impact on my life because he was the one that took care of me and my younger brother. My parents weren 't really there for us, they were always working two or three jobs just to keep a roof over our heads. My brother would cook and clean and help us do our homework. He actually helped me learn how to read and take care of myself. The day he left the house hurt me so much that i hated him for leaving me behind. I lost trust with my mother, i lost and ruined friendships and my relationship, but i learned how to accept what i’ve done and i saw it as a life lesson and that it was meant to happen for other things to fall back in place.For example, i was able to be honest with my mother. I told her how i was feeling and what was going on and how i was depressed. My relationship with my mother became stronger than ever. I also learned how to forgive myself for what i’ve done in the past. I changed a lot because of my past. I became more responsible not just for my brothers but for myself. I love school, that’s always been a positive thing for me, even when i was being a rebel i never gave up in school. I learned about being independent, i got a job and got my life together started helping my parents out as much as i could. Now i know that i was trying to grow up too fast because my childhood was taken away from me but now that i’m older and i understand what i’ve done and why i did it. The thought of becoming a nurse always been on the back of my mind but now i can see myself becoming one and helping others. I was raised to take care of my brothers and learned to be independent and caring. Some strong and great things that i value. Responsibility is one of the values that are very important to me because it was taught to me at a very age so when i know i have a responsibility i put my effort to accomplish that task or promise at my very best. I use this value to measure if my life is turning they way i want it to be and life at this very moment is
