Selena’s Music Bethany RamseyMusic was one of the most important parts of Selena’s life. It affected her friends, her family, and everyone who listened to her music. Music had always been important in her family, especially since her dad tried to pursue a career in music, but never really “made it.” She also made a stronger connection with her culture by singing most of her songs in Spanish and performing in Mexico. Her Spanish has to be perfect so she isn’t “too American,” and her English has to be perfect so she isn’t “too Mexican.” Her father was afraid that people would judge her or ridicule her for her Spanish, but she was widely accepted even when she would sing in English. Both Americans and Mexicans loved her lively performances and breathtaking songs. Selena was a big inspiration for a lot of people. She started from very little and became and music sensation and fashion designer. Many people looked up to her and wanted to be just like her. Music affected Selena’s life and her family’s lives in good ways and in bad. She had always loved performing and she made a lot of money from it. She was close with their family and music bonded them together. There were also limitations to her music career. It was hard for her to be with the man she loved, Chris. She was so busy and her father didn’t want her to get distracted from her music. Even though there were tough times within the band, they always stuck together and worked it out for the sake of music.Selena was an inspiration for many. Her music touched people’s hearts and gave them hope. She never gave up and worked hard throughout her career. Her family had always been right by her side through it all.
