Montag was a very normal fireman, at the beginning. Fireman are men who, when there is a fire go and make the fire go out. But, that is not the case in this dystopian world that Ray Bradbury has made up, it is very different. Fireman in this book do not take fire’s out, Fireman start the fires. But it is not like the fire men go and just start random fires. No, they burn books. The reason why they burn books is because in this story, books are illegal. So in the beginning Montag was a normal fireman, but then later in the story he starts stealing books and he changes and starts going against the idea that books should be born.
During the beginning Montag was a very steady and an unchanging fireman. Montag was like every other fireman, during the day they would spend time with family or sleep, but at night they go to work and set fire to houses that were hiding books. Then he started having feelings for the books, and he wondered what was in the books. Till one day he stole a book and then the real adventure began. There are many different ways we could tell that Montag was changing. For example when Montag started talking to Clarisse on a regular basis you could tell that the

For an example when the firefighters went to the old lady's house to burn the books. When the old lady refused to leave her house because she was so strong in what she believed in and she let the house burn down with her. While all of the other firefighters left without a blink of an eye, Montag stayed and watched for awhile to watch the horror. Another way that Montag changed was that he had gone to Faber and asked him to help him understand the book that he stole. In the beginning Montag would never go to someone to ask him about books, let alone steal one! Books where illegal and it was his job to do it!
