Ancient Greece has probably had one of the most influential parts on our modern day lives. The arts were always extremely valued in Greece, so theatre flourished, particularly in Athens. The plot of the plays was always inspired by Greek mythology, a theme that is still common today. The main genres of these plays were tragedy and comedy. These genres, still exist in the modern theatre. In Greece they would mostly put on dramas and tragedies. It was said that in some plays they would be so sad that it would leave the entire audience in tears, Tragedy are plays that show human misery and suffering.
