The Renaissance was a time of great cultural rebirth and achievement. Although it began in Italy, the Renaissance spread and affected most of the world and continues to influence us today. Many legacies and famous figures were birthed during this period, some of which we continue to be influenced by and taught about today. One of such figures is Michelangelo. Michelangelo was a sculptor, painter, and architect who was born in 1475 in Italy. Michelangelo was first apprenticed by Domenico Ghirlandaio when he was just 13 year old. He soon attracted attention from Lorenzo de’ Medici. Lorenzo then offered to house him. While living with Lorenzo, he was influenced by his the intellectuality of his friends. He was born in 1452 in Venice, Italy. He was a sculptor, architect, inventor, painter, scientist, mathematician, musician, cartographer, botanist, astronomer, geologist, and finally, writer. His works inspired many other figures of the Renaissance. Although Leonardo was talented in many areas, he was most remembered for his work as an artist. His most popular piece by far was the “Mona Lisa.” The painting depicts a woman by the name of Lisa sitting in front of a countryside background. The Mona Lisa is often described as the most viewed, talked about, known, sung about, and parodied piece of artwork in the world. So naturally, many people today can not help but wonder who this “Lisa” is. This unknown star has also been found upon the crowd in Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper,” which has only created more wonder in the minds of Da Vinci fans. There are many conspiracies surrounding this mystery. Some people believe that “Lisa” was simply Da Vinci’s rendition of himself as a woman and others claim that the painting contains microscopic
