Martin Luther King Jr’s name was originally Michael, not Martin. King was an American Baptist Minister and activist who was a leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He gave famous speeches. Segregation would've lasted longer if King would not have made a stand. MLK influenced and changed many lives by standing up against segregation.
Segregation was the jump start to the Civil Rights Movement. Not only was segregation in schools, jobs, or in transportation, it was a big part of everyday life. Johnson signed into law the Civil Rights Act that ended most segregation in the United States” (Peake). This was a very good move that changed society for many people.
