A motivational speaker, community activist, and caring father: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. still remains as one of the most influential people to come around during the mid 1950s and 60s. Martin was originally born as Michael on January 15th, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Both his grandfather and father were minsters at an African-American Baptist church. Later, his father Reverend Michael King changed his and his son's name to Martin Luther in admiration of sixteenth-century reformer.
