The European Renaissance was a cultural movement that lasted from the 14th to the 16th centuries. It was a cultural and social change revolution, that was characterized as ingenuity, imagination and creativity. This time of the year is known for the contribution to today’s society where many new artists find inspiration from Donatello, Raffaello Sanzio, Sandro Botticelli among other great contributors. Also during that time Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni and Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci were two of the best artists ever born, however both italians were big rivals even though they had a few things in common. Leonardo painted scenes related the birth of Jesus Christ while Michelangelo was reviving scenes from the bible, The Sistine Chapel was another remarkable work of art by Michelangelo, it’s the ceiling of a chapel full of painted images of stories from the bible located in Vatican city, which took four years of hard work to finish. Another Christian artwork was The Last Supper shows multiple men having a meal, Jesus Christ finds himself in the middle of the marvelous creation. Despite both men being incompatible, Michelangelo ends up being my favorite artist because his impeccable work done in the Sistine Chapel, he painted everything by hand and he designed the platforms himself. The way he carved terracotta to give it many shapes and different sizes, the way he added detail to every aspect of the sculpture’s faces and body parts still amazes and inspires many people on today’s society including me.
