The late fifth and early sixth centuries were harsh for Britain. It was when Rome ruled and the Anglo-Saxons began to invade Britain. King Arthur was a legendary British leader during that time who, according to medieval history and medieval romance, protected Britain from the Saxon invaders. Both he and his knights fought the Saxons to the last, and after the war Arthur was given the title King Arthur, to rule over his kingdom Camelot.
