Priestley was born near Leeds on 13th March 1733 and spent much of his adult life as a teacher and preacher. As well as science, Priestley was extremely knowledgeable in many areas including theology, history, education, aesthetics and politics.
One of the many books he wrote was called “History and Present State of Electricity” which he worked on with Benjamin Franklin (who discovered electricity in XXX). He was he was elected to Fellowship of the Royal Society in 1766
