I believe that John Smith did not hang himself for multiple reasons. Why would a rich, famous pianist suddenly commit suicide in the first place? In the scene it showed a cord taken from a set of drapes was around his neck, and he was hung two feet above his piano stool. Steel wire was also ripped from his own piano and also his diary and wide open on his table. First of all, the first detail that does not fit with the suicide of John Smith is that he was two feet above the piano stool. It would have been nearly impossible for him to jump up and be able to do a pull up at age ninety and at the same time tie the rope around his neck to hang himself. If he was able to commit suicide by hanging himself, the piano stool wouldn’t have been that
