An craftsmen and inventor Johann Gutenberg who developed a printing method that revolutionized to produce books faster and made them affordable. In circa 1398, Gutenberg was born into a merchant family in Mainz, Germany. While living in Germany, he was trained by his family to be a goldsmith and a blacksmith. Experimenting with printing began in 1428 when a craftsmen revolt erupted causing his family to vacate and settling in Strasbourg, France. He later then manufactured metal blocks that provided discrete letters, which made production easier than using wooden blocks used in China for hundreds of years in the past in around 1440.
