JFK was born in Boston to a wealthy middle class family and was one of nine children. His father has dreams of political office for his children. He served in the NAVY during World War II earning medals for his actions. Most notably he saved a fellow shipmate after his own boat was rammed by a Japanese boat. Following his service he pursued a political career starting with representing Boston as a US Congressman. And ultimately the President of the United States.

Martin Luther King. JFK dealt with a growing change in the way American’s felt towards racial equality. This was most evident in the southern states as racism was out of control. JFK actually had to send in troops to stop the violence and in one case to allow a Black student to register for and attend College. This proved to Americans that the Constitution still stood strong and the president would protect the rights of all Americans. These actions took place around 100 years after Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation that effectively freed the slaves in
