Elected in 1960 John Fitzgerald Kennedy served as the 35th president of the United States. At the time, forty three year old John Kennedy immediately became known as the second youngest and first Roman Catholic man to hold such a high position in office. During his presidency, Mr. Kennedy has faced a plethora of obstacles in office as well as made many achievements. In 1961, Kennedy had helped to create the Peace Corps by executive order sending over 170,000 Peace Corps volunteers to serve in 135 countries.
