Imagine the world without trains? Meaning, there would not be a thomas the train to teach kids important life lessons through the TV and children's books. I don’t know about you but a world without Thomas the train is not a world I would want to live in. Remember the family favorite book and later movie called “The Polar Express?” How weird would it have been if instead of going to the North pole by a magical train, they traveled by car or plane. Totally ruins the magic right? And who could forget the classic never give up story, “The Little Engine who could”. Made famous for its glorified motto of “I think I can, I think I can”, the story teaches kids about determination and to never giving up no matter how difficult the situation may be. The iconic message is still famous with kids today so the idea of it never existing is just plain nuts. Luckily, this reality isn’t true thanks to one man named James Watt.
James Watt was a Scottish Inventor whose inventions were a huge part of the Industrial Revolution. The Scot was a very intelligent man. In fact, due to the impact his invention had on science and society itself, he had a unit of power named after him. Crazy right? Naturally, it was named the Watt, after his surname. Although he didn’t invent the steam engine, he is credited for making it more efficient.
