Books were burned, there was a system of censorship, and Nazi’s took over newspaper. They burned books because they were not following the Nazi rules. The system of censorship dominated the German population. They can only see, hear, read things that were acceptable by the Nazis. They took over newspapers for the same reason. The police in Germany had to ensure the rules were being followed and that there had not been any bad speaking upon the Nazi party. Nazi party members were happy because they got good treatment by the government. The population were reminded frequently of who the “real” enemies were. The Nazis needed propaganda in order to enforce their beliefs to the public. They eliminated many freedoms from the German society such as privacy. “Individuals lost the right to privacy, which meant that officials could read people's mail, listen in on telephone conversations, and search private homes without a warrant.” Hitler was very good at persuading people and luring them into his ideas. “Culture, the economy, education, and law all came under Nazi control.” Many parties, governments, organizations, etc., needed to follow the objectives of Nazis. Jews were sent to concentration camps, there was extremely harsh punishments, and there was a lot of persecution and mass media that was covered by Propaganda. It was Joseph Goebbels's responsibility to make sure the population of Germany was fed the appropriate type of material. Joseph Goebbels was the minister for the Nazi German government of the Third Reich. He was a “trusted friend and colleague” of Adolf Hitler. Goebbels forced Jewish artists, musicians, actors, directors and newspaper and magazine editors into unemployment, and staged a public burning of books that were considered ”un-German.”The propaganda that was put out had to be as persuasive as possible. Joseph Goebbels had to ensure success. He worked with the SS, and with Gestapo and Albert Speer. He set up the Reich Chamber of Commerce in 1933. They used modern technology such as: literature, art, music, radio, film, newspapers, etc. Nazis made many things cheaper in Nazi Germany, for example radios. It was extremely dangerous to say anything ill about the government. Hitlers power began to rise in January 1933. The Nazi party began to feel strong in May 1933. They won a majority of votes at elections, but did not have a majority of support among the
