Nazi Propaganda Rough Draft
Adolf Hitler once said that “propaganda tries to force a doctrine on the whole people… Propaganda works on the general public from the standpoint of an idea and makes them ripe for the victory of this idea” (“Nazi Propaganda” 5). Propaganda turned into his most effective tool against the Jewish people. Jews were rendered unable to fight back due to their ignorance of what the Nazis really wanted, while their fellow Germans were absorbing all the “facts” the Nazis deplored against Jews. Even other countries didn’t understand what was happening because the Nazis covered the genocide by showing them how great the camps were for Jews. Fear and ignorance drove the world. Many Jews and non-Jews alike didn’t realize how bad it was. They didn’t know until they were gassed or starved or saw it happen to others. By then, it was too late for most victims. They didn’t know what to do. If it wasn’t for Nazi propaganda covering up what was really going on, the Holocaust could not have happened.
Nazi’s were able to use this propaganda effectivly by implementing it into popular films, children’s books, and newspapers- which in turn created an atmosphere that was tolerant to the violence against Jews (“Nazi Propaganda” 5). Another factor that made people devoutly support anti-semitism were the essays that professionals wrote debating how to solve the “Jewish Question” (Gercke 2). They believed (and made others believe) that Jews were set on world domination, and that the only way to solve this problem was to “build [the] state without… Jews” (Gercke 2). Doctors also took this opportunity to enforce their authority by conducting experiments that “proved” Jews were inferior to Aryans. While this created many of the stereotypes we see today ( Jews
