Sir Henry Parkes was born to extreme poverty and difficulty in England. Henry found his dream to a politician when it was discovered that he had excellent oratory skills. He was elected to the New South Wales Parliament in 1854, becoming the prime minister five different times, premier from March to August 1877. He helped introduce laws which improved hospitals, prisons and the lives of small farms. Henry had a passion for helping people.
As Henry Parkes quoted “A man must be himself or nothing”. This quote was from his hardships. From being very poor to being the premier of Australia. Sir Henry Parkes had a vision his vision was to build a fair and just society, he wanted to raise awareness for the responsibilities that they need to follow to have equal opportunities. One of the things that Henry Parkes reformed Education, he realised that should all have an education and once we are older we should have equal job opportunities. From his persistence the railway services were finally established in NSW. Sir Henry Parkes also instructed future nurses to work in public hospitals. He started to support the employees that needed assistance. Henry helped people in prisons, cared for the disabled in nursing
