Harry Houdini didn’t want to be a typical entertainer and many people can agree that he succeeded. He had done things unthinkable at the time, breaking away from the basic, boring amusement. He gave entertainment a jolt, making it bigger, and better than ever before. Entertainment, especially magic, may not be the way it is today without him. Not only did he break away from his poor, immigrant background, but also he inspired other people to do it too.
Entertainment throughout 1874-1929 was the beginnings of our entertainment today. Very early black and white silent short films were coming out and were very popular throughout the 1900’s. Additionally, the first commercial radio station came out in 1919. There was also the first appearance of comic strips in 1895 and girl scouts making their humble beginnings. Furthermore there was a very popular circus called The Ziegfeld Follies. Magic was not very big before …show more content…
He inspired magicians such as David Copperfield and Criss Angel. David Copperfield and Criss Angel are both popular modern american magicians. He also represented freedom and escaping from boundaries with all his escape acts. Whether it is a financial situation or anything else, there is always a way to escape. But, more importantly, he taught people that anyone can go from poor to rich if they work really hard and believe in what they do. He additionally taught that anyone can live the american dream. In conclusion, Harry Houdini has made a colossal impact on American History.
What if Harry Houdini was never born? Would poor immigrants have a label of not making it in america? Would america never see the closest thing we have to magic? Would america never meet amazing magicians such as Criss Angel and David Copperfield that followed Harry Houdini? The answer is yes. Harry Houdini made all of this happen. He has made a greater impact on america more than most people
