It was a requirement that God was incarnated as a man and died in the way that He did. If God had spontaneously forgiven us for our sins it would not have been just. God always acts within his own character, which is being fair. Justice is an aspect of God’s character and so we would have not learned fully from just being plainly forgiven. …show more content…
“The Word became flesh to make us partakers of the divine nature: For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God.” God always intended us to be with him and share the glory of creation with him in heaven, to communicate his goodness so we could share his joy. He sought for us to transition from imperfect happiness in this lifetime to perfect happiness in the next life. We are not meant only to live on earth, but also to live in God’s presence in heaven. The only way we can truly live is in the glory of God, who is the source of all life. This is shown in the Bible, where it is written that, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10). After being convicted and sentenced to crucifixion Jesus was scourged. In the act of scourging, one is struck with a leather multi-thong whip to cause serious pain and deep gashes. He was mocked for stating he was “king” and had a crown of thorns forced upon his head where it pierced through his scalp. Through all the pain he already suffered he became too weak to carry the cross upon his back and received assistance from Simon of Cyrene where they continued their journey to the Hill of Calvary. Before his death, Jesus was offered a gall mixture to ease the suffering and amazingly refused. Nails were then driven through each hand and another through both ankles. He could have died in other ways, but the extreme pain associated with his torture and death is proof of God’s love and devotion for us; He was willing to endure all the pain and suffering of man in order to have his beloved creation with Him
