The environment is extremely valuable, once it is ruined, it will be very hard to repair and recover. In some cases, it would be impossible to turn back around. Once it happens the Earth would be stuck like that forever, or at least until the end of time. People like Gifford Pinchot, John Muir, Theodore Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson saw this, and they decided to do something about it. “It is ours to use and conserve for ourselves and our descendants, or to destroy” (Pinchot, 1). Pinchot knew just how important it would be to conserve the environment because of how difficult it would be to fix in the future. Although some people may still doubt what he warned the world about, global warming and climate change, other people are fighting just as hard or even harder than he was to conserve the environment. Despite the fact that people are working just as hard or even more, it has been harder to achieve goals due to the fact that new and more complex obstacles arose. For instance, there are over 103 National Parks in the world (ENVIS Centre on Wildlife & Protected Areas). There are hundreds of people who would like to make that number, larger in order to protect as much land and environment as possible. However, there are things like the GOP platform who has proposed to eliminate all national parks and national forests (Think Process).
