The year is 2104 and the world has changed drastically. After World War III Germany had won and conquered many countries. At that time America was allied with France and Australia, so the Germans had won all this land. The king Joan Turkin changed The United States to New Germany. Most of the laws were the same except they changed the taxes and they wanted everyone under their control, and all children were separated from their parents and sent to boarding schools. On September 4, 2105 the Germans had a plan in mind, a plan to make society better in their minds. Before the big war there was a sweet family. Then they asked if they could walk Maddy to the first grade section. Then they headed back to their section and got ready to go to work. When you turned ten you are only allowed to go to school for half a day then you would have to do whatever job the Germans told you to do. For Scott and Max they had to work out on the farm and bring in the wheat and other crops. Once they got to the field there was only ten other people working. So as they harvested the crops Scott began to ask Max the question that he had always been wondering,”Hey Max?’
“Yeah.”
“What ever did happen to your parents?”
“I told you they were taken by the government.”
“But you never told me why. I told you my parents were moved and forced to work and make soap. Why can’t you tell me what happened to yours?”
There was bit of silence as Max thought of what had happened and how to explain it. He looked around at the circumstances they were in and their brown clothes and all the wet gooey mud on his bare feet. He gave in and began to speak thinking of his mother and father that he once had.
“ Fine. I will tell you only if you promise not to say anything to Maddy.”
