How Did George Washington Contribute To The American Revolution

Starting in 1796 the colonist began to rejected the British Authority and began to rebel. The rebels were known as the patriots, the patriots fought for their freedom and wanted to establish a new country in which resulted the United States of America. During the American Revolution, the first president( After Revolutionary War) George Washington commanded the continental army. Washington was the type of leader that people can only dream to be. Before the Revolution he served in the Seven Years War and although he wasn’ the commander in the seven years war it gave him the military experience he needed to be the commander of the revolutionary war. Washington was very smart and strategic and back then being strategic was very important because you needed surprise and something no one would have thought of. Also Washington had hope and hope was very powerful especially during a war. Even though he had men with no fighting experience they were weak and sick it was hard to have hope but Washington remained hopeful and loyal to his troops. France was already having problems with Britain and when Benjamin Franklin started to contact them, they saw an opportunity to take advantage of the british troubles. With their alliance it really strengthened the patriots numbers. The patriots were also supported by Spain and many of the european countries, it was mostly Spain. Spain was allied to France before the war therefore they were not really backing the new nation but France,they believed that the Americans (patriots) had the same imperialistic trait as Britain.
