How Did George Washington Carver Contribute To Agriculture

George Washington Carver was born and grew up in Diamond Missouri. It was during Civil War times but the exact dates of his birth are unknown. He lived with the white family that kept his mother as a slave. He got his masters degree from Iowa State University in 1896. He proceeded into the agricultural department to study plants and soil. He developed and invented many different uses for peas, sweet potatoes and peanuts. George Washington Carver originally had a lot of background information on agriculture. His parents and his master provided knowledge as a child about farming on the plantations. He had an immediate interest in plants and soil so he went on into adulthood to major in these topics. He invented food items from peanuts that would provide stable sources of protein. Carver was a talented student in horticulture and a good teacher of freshman biology. In 1940 Carver founded the George Washington Carver foundation at Tuskegee institute. He did not invent peanut butter but he did cultivate many products that are from peanuts. At Simpson college George Washington Carver majored in art but one of his teachers persuaded him to transfer Iowa State to go into agriculture. If he was white he would’ve stayed at Iowa State University but he accepted an offer from Booker T. Washington.
