When looking at Tom’s life, he wouldn’t be a true definition of The American Dream. Tom is another example of someone who did not achieve their American Dream. Tom was always cheating on Daisy with Myrtle. The author says, “It takes two to make an accident” (Fitzgerald 58). Part of The American Dream is to live a happy life with one person and loving that one person. Cheating on your wife is not in that. Everyone who lives in the East Egg are stuck up and snobby and only care about themselves. Everyone in the East Egg didn’t have to work for their money like the people of the West Egg. Tom was rich and had a lot of money, but he was so stuck up with his money. He never used his money for good.
