First, there are the acts that Gandhi did, two of them were the Salt March and the burning of the papers that Indians had to carry with them at all times. The Salt March was boycotting the British rule that the Indians had to buy the British salt and the burning of the papers was showing the British that the Indians did not like the papers and want them to go away. There was also the event when Rosa Parks sat on a whites only section of the bus and said that she was not going to leave, however police removed her from the bus and took her to jail. Rosa Parks was deliberately disobeying the rule that the blacks were not allowed to sit in the white section of the bus, by doing this she was completing an act of Satyagraha. Also, Martin Luther King Jr. acted non-violently by walking like Gandhi had done, except in Washington D.C. and waiting until the police attacked them. He also acted non-violently by giving speeches and getting people to help him get rid of segregation. Rosa Parks’s and MLK’s acts both lead to equality with blacks and whites even though that wasn’t fully accomplished while they were still alive.
