How Did Flowers For Algernon Make Him Smarter

In the story Flowers for Algernon the main character Charlie was undergoing a operation to make him smarter but he would have been better off without having the surgery because he had a lot to look forward to. Charlie was intellectually disabled from birth and he knew how to talk and all the normal everyday tasks but he couldn't gain information or learn so one night his night class teacher recommended him to a science lab to have a surgery to make him smarter. So that next day he left for the lab and when he got there he was greeted by Dr.strauss and Dr.nemur and they introduced him to a mouse named Algernon and he had the surgery and he was three times smarter. Dr.strauss and Dr.nemur had Charlie sleep with some very quiet music in the background.
