His first role as an actor was in 1956, in the movie “Love Me Tender”. The primary goal with his acting career, and this movie in general, was to use his iconic role in pop culture to create the next generation of drama and emotion, similarly to James Dean. Love Me Tender is about the quickly ending civil war in which the confederate army attempts to rob a union train, and the feds coming after them. Overall, this film was successful, but by no means lastingly impressionable.
