How Did Edgar Allan Poe Influenced His Writing

Born, January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts; Edgar Allan Poe was an exceptional writer and poet. He grew up as a foster child due to his parents death in Richmond, Virginia. “The Tell - Tale Heart” and “The Fall of the House of Usher” became literary classics. Poe’s poem called “The Raven,” which he published in 1845, is considered among the best- known poems in American literature. Poe’s life experiences influenced his writing dramatically and made him who he is. The dark and oppressing mood that he expresses in his literature, influenced his writings from events in his life such as, his mother's death. He was usually under the influence of opium and alcohol. His wife's death also influenced much of his writing’s as well. Edgar Allen Poe was an outstanding poet who used the unfortunate circumstances of his life such as the death of his mother, the influence of drugs and alcohol, and the death of his wife to write great poetry. One major influence on Poe’s writing was his mother. His mother died on December 8, 1811 when Edgar was only two years old. The cause of her death was tuberculosis.
