Edgar Allan Poe was the creator of the most gruesome stories ever written. Stories such as The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, and The Cask of Amontillado are a few of Poe’s famous pieces. In these particular stories, Poe writes about death and other horrible events. These cruel and rather dark stories have led many people to believe that Poe may have been insane. What many may not know is that Poe had endured several tragedies throughout his forty years of life. The hardships that he had faced heavily influenced his writing, and although his stories may be unpleasant, they are one of a kind.
