On the night of January 19 of 1809, a child was born in Boston, Massachusetts by the name of Edgar Allan Poe(Bio.com). Edgar was one of three children, and their mother died when he was only 3 years old(Bio.com). After their mother's death, the three children were sent to different households. Edgar had been adopted by a wealthy family, and had went to good schools all his life. At the age of 17 he headed off to The University of Virginia. Even though his adoptive father had plenty of money, he only gave Edgar a third of what he needed to sustain his admission to The University of Virginia, because of this he started heavily drinking and dropped out of school about a year later(Bio.com). He influenced people such as, Agatha Christie and Jules Verne(Free Base.com). Poe was among the first to help form defective fiction and horror. Poe’s style of writing was extremely melancholy, with quotes such as, “Years of love had been forgot in the hatred of a minute”, or “I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity”(Brainy Quotes). Poe has also made many contributions to literature, such as influencing many famous poets who without, we would not have great poems or books. Although Poe does not have a general theme to his poems, rest assured all of them are deep and
