Moving to America was the biggest turning point in my lifetime. Everything was new and I had to adjust through it. There was a change in the educational system, language, friends, culture and environment basically America was a whole new world for me. Unlike many teenagers I didn’t, have a transition period from childhood to teenage years to adulthood, like so many others here in America might have. My life went from a carefree child to being a mature and responsible adult within a matter of months, and here is how it all started. The fact or the matter is that I was born in a refugee camp in Nepal and life wasn’t easy with death and disease looming everywhere. I roamed the streets as carefree as young kid could. Life was normal as I went to school every day, my dad worked countless hours, and my mother stayed home like so many other women in the community.…
When I knew that I was gonna come to the United States for the very first time, I had a mishmash of emotions. Excitement was of course present, since I've fancied myself living the American dream. You know, the kind of life you see on TV. So, whenever I come back fresh from the States, wind blows like there's no tomorrow. All I say is how great life is in America.…
I like this country more now and I do not mind late and crowded buses anymore. I got used to the fact that strangers can greet me sometimes and ask how I am doing, even though it seemed weird for me at first and I could not understand why those people were even talking to me. There are still some things I have adjust to, but I do not find living in the U.S. as hard as I thought it…
It was 1884, when the Law of Religion was passed. The law didn't allow citizens of Poland to practice their own religion. My parents were furious, especially my father who was a preacher at the town Church of God. So, my parents allowed that my sister, Lena, and I would move to America with them. It was going to be a long journey, this I already knew.…

I was 8, finishing 2nd grade, when I moved to America and left my homeland. I didn’t realize how much this would change my life. All I thought at the time is that I am going on a plane. Planes are cool when you’re a young child. Planes can fly.…
Coming to America as an immigrant was not simple especially when there's lot of differences from eating to how people think and interact with others on daily basis. It was a big transition not only for me but for my entire family and getting adjusted to the American vibes was difficult. My father was the first one to come here all the way from India in search of a job, and then when situation improved we ended up moving here as well. I started schooling as an 8th grader which was like jumping in the midst of an ocean with no one to help you. The social life, making friends proved very tough for me especially coming from a totally different background with cultural and traditional differences that no one understood which continued in high school as well.…
I came to America when I was a teenager and did not know any English. I felt strange and anxious at school and tried to fit in the new environment. The school system was totally different compared to where I came from. I did not know what to do but did not know how to get help. Every day in class, I was doing the math and only math.…
I didn’t know what to expect coming back to the U.S. I was starting the third grade when my parents decided to move back the U.S. I was raised in a Spanish speaking household, went to school that the only language they spoke was Spanish. So moving back to America was big deal to me, meaning I had to start basically a new life with totally different people, new language, new friends, new everything. It changed my life in a totally complete way, when I started school here it was different compared to school in Mexico. They were learning different things which made it more complicated for me to learn. As going to school I had to take a class which was called “ESOL”, which helped me learn English.…

Moving from Africa to America made me a better person and taught me to understand people better. It gave me opportunities to change my lifestyle, be around others that are different from me, and expand my education. One memory that tops all memories was coming to the United States.…
It was my first time in America. In 2015, I moved with my family permanently from India. Had few issues moving but managed to solve those issues without any difficulties. I had no clue how it would be; I had heard about it, read it in the newspaper and saw it in movies but never seen it with my eyes. I was pumped to know about how each and everything used to function, how different the American system is from the Indian system?…
