How Did Cleopatra Rise To Power

Cleopatra was a powerful women in her time when she ruled ancient Egypt. She was smart and very determined to be to ruler of Egypt without any of her brothers or sisters. Her own flesh and blood was the only exception to that rule. Cleopatra had three marriages and four children. The first child was from Caesar the other three from Mark Antony. She had five siblings three sisters and two brothers. Cleopatra died at the age of thirty nine. Back them that was a long time considering children at the age of 12-14 became rulers of empires and countries. She was not a fool and was very creative in getting the things she wanted. During her years of life she plotted the death of her family, found ways to keep her throne, and survive everything that …show more content…
After marrying her brother Ptolemy XIII who was 10 years old at the time, she made it clear that she is not sharing power. This enraged him and so he made plans with another sister Arsinoe IV a half-sister. Together they exiled Cleopatra to Alexandra and she lost her power. During the time she was in Alexandra she made a pact with Caesar who placed Cleopatra and her other brother Ptolemy XIV as co-rulers of Egypt. The brother drowned crossing the Nile when he was chased by Caesar. Ptolemy XIV ruled with Cleopatra as her husband for three years till Cleopatra poisoned him. She now was the sole ruler of Egypt, sharing her power with no one but her son Caesarian. She named her son (Ptolemy XV) who had the nick named Caesarian which means little Caesar. Caesar never acknowledged him as his son. Her third marriage was to Mark Antony whom she truly loved. Their marriage enraged Octavia who was the sister of Octavian who was the wife of Mark Antony and Cleopatra had three children, two twins and a boy. The twin girl was named Cleopatra Selene II and her brother named Alexander Helios. After she gave birth to them, she then gave birth to the last and final child, Ptolemy Philadelphus. Antony and Cleopatra were in a relationship for eleven years,
